Best Finding Technique: Wandering in the Subdivisions
New Transfer, New Compnaion, New Attitude. I am so excited for the new opportunities that I have in this transfer. My new companion is Elder Cacayuran, who is my batch in the MTC. I was so excited when I heard that he was going to be my companion because I know about his competency and diligence in the mission. I have so much to learn from him every single day. So for the thing that I have learned from him is how to do sign language. He learned sign language in one of his previous areas to teach a deaf investigator, and now we have been communicating in comical sign language. It makes communication a lot easier whilst traveling in the jeepneys that blast the music up to level 100. I am sure we look pretty ridiculous to the people around us. I feel like we are those baseball coaches giving those over the top signals.
The new attitude that I want to take on this transfer is to always go the second mile. In my life I have been the kind of guy who does just enough in order to do what I need to do. Now I want to be the kind of person who does the extra act in order to actually let God more effectively use me as an instrument to impact the lives of those around me. I don't want to look back on my mission seeing that I did just enough to survive. I want to say that I thrived on my mission and did all that I could to go the extra mile.
Miracle of the week: There was one day that we were looking for this less active member and ended up wandering all over the place. We asked people for the directions and they kept pointing us in a direction. When we got to the destination that these people were pointing to, we found out that the address did not even exist! So we wandered around for over an hour trying to find an nonexistent destination. We thought that we wasted a ton of time because nothing came out of it.... at first.... When Sunday came, we see a family walk into church that I did not recognize. When we went up and talked to them, they were a family that has been taught by the missionaries before. A couple of the kids are members, but the parents are not yet. When they saw us wandering around their neighborhood it was an answer to their prayers and they decided they needed to come back to church. Who would have thought that wandering around was actually an effective way to find people that want to improve their lives through the gospel. This week there have been so many experiences like this it is strange. God works in mysterious ways.
