Learning from Failure
It has been an interesting week for us. We found SO MANY NEW INVESTIGATORS! They have great potential and I am so grateful for the guidance of God when finding new people to teach. I have learned so much from my companion Elder Moralita. He is the true example of one that has self-awareness, self-regulation, sincerely cares for others, and has social skills. This is his skill in influence others, especially those who are closest to him. I do not want to depart ways from him yet.
I also do not feel ready to leave this area. I have been here for 6 months but I feel like I have yet to fulfill the purpose of why God sent me to this mission. If God gives me the opportunity to stay another transfer I will have a change of mindset. I will learn from the failure that I have had in the first couple transfers and improve to be the missionary that God wants me to be. I have requested to stay but we will see what happens!
I had one of my favorite learning moments for the week, or maybe it was a re-learning moment, was that is always more fun to be weird. Obviously within the standards of the mission rules, but I feel honestly happy when I am my weirder self. Elder Moralita has this theory that all people are weird in their own ways.
Jeffery R Holland came to the Philippines and had a broadcast for us all. He emphasized the example of the savior Jesus Christ with obedience during the Atonement. In the Garden of Gethsemane he told his Father, "Not mine will but thine be done." That is the attitude that I want. We do not need to please people just God. Obedience is the first principle of EVERYTHING. If there is anything that we want to change about ourselves, start with obedience and all else will follow.
Have a wonderful week!
