Mercy's Baptism

Magadang buhay!

This was a pretty great week! Hmm.. ok here are some highlights of the week.

1) I got my license to drive in the Philippines! I do not know if I will actually have a chance to drive but at least it is a sweet souvenir. I would not really want to drive here in the Philippines. There are ZERO driving rules. The only rule is if the car/motorcycle fits, you can go.

2) As a zone leader I get to go on a lot of Exchanges with other missionaries. There is one missionary named Elder Bjornn. At first he really struggled with adjusting to missionary life. I first went on exchanges with him last October. This week I got to go on exchanges as he is about to finish his training. It is amazing to the see the progress that he has made. He inspires me as he relies on Christ to overcome his challenges. He teaches me so much. We literally have so much to learn from everyone it's AMAZING. Anywho. Change is real as we apply the Atonement.

3) Baptism! Mercy Martinez was baptized this last week. She was honestly another miracle that I got to witness in the mission. We found her one day while looking for a new apartment for the sister missionaries. As we talked to her we found out that she was best friends with an active member of the church. She allowed us to share a message with her, and we found out that she has been searching her entire life for the true religion. She had joined just about every church but said that every other church that she went to, just did not feel right. The first time we taught her we felt the spirit so strong and she instantly knew there was something different about this Gospel that we were teaching. She progressed so quickly and later on we found out that she had actually met Russel M Nelson when she was working abroad and she attended a temple dedication. God plants little seeds and when the time is right, he allows us missionaries to cross pathways. I am so grateful for Sister Mercy and her humility and sensitivity to the spirit. She was so excited about becoming a member that she said she wanted to apply to be a full time missionary and start the church out in her province. Her faith is incredible.

Alrighty have a greeeat week!
