6 month Belated Birthday Present
This week during orientation day, I was inspired by the new missionaries and reflected on my first days in the mission. We had the opportunity to help the new missionaries adjust well to this new stage in their lives. We went around asking them why they decided to serve a mission and their dedication and enthusiasm inspired me to finish my mission in an all out sprint. You don't realize how much you have changed until you see those in your old shoes.
One of the best learnings of the week was in our meeting with President Hughes. He talked about what it really means to be a leader. In my time in the mission I often worried too much about unity in the zone or managing the zone while I should have focused more on being an actual example. There is still so much to learn and so much more to grow.
Finding miracle of the week:
Elder Bryan and I are companions! We were in the same ward at college and I get to be his final companion in the mission. We are now in the Sampaguita Ward which had exactly 0 people currently being taught. Which just means we get to start from scratch. I decided to look through a record of people that were taught before. When I looked at this one teaching record I noticed that the first time they were taught was on my birthday February 19. I told Elder Bryan that we had to go there. When we went, they instantly let us in and we talked to them for a long while about life. By the end, they decided that they wanted to start being taught again and they came to church. Moral of the story is when looking at teaching records always look for if they were taught on your birthday hahaha. It was the best belated birthday present I've ever gotten. Miracles are happening every day.
