Stay at Home Missionaries
This was a different week. My companion has been having some intense pain in his neck/ thyroid area. We have not been able to work very much all week, and we having been going to the hospital to try and figure out what has been going on. I used to say I wanted to be a stay at home dad... now I have this drive to go out and work. Honestly it has been so upsetting to see him in so much pain, and the first hospital we went was one of the most ghetto hospitals I have ever seen. We went inside and no joke, 1/8 of the lights were working, there were random boxes of syringes everywhere, and I think there was a drunk guy just laying down in the middle of the floor. The one doctor in the hospital decided not to come in to work that day even though we had an appointment. Then we went to the next doctor, and they did not tell us anything except that we should try a different doctor. Eventually we gave up, and the next day we got an appointment in the nicest hospital in Manila. They still aren't completely sure what is causing the pain and why he is experiencing the symptoms. We will going back in the upcoming weeks.
Being home for this week has given me a lot of time to ponder and figure out what I want to say for the upcoming zone conference that we will be having tomorrow. Speaking in front of a large group is always exhilarating, and honestly I have no idea what I am doing. Eventually I should be able to learn how to be a zone leader... haha. I am just lucky to have Elder Donan by my side despite his sickness.
Even though we only had a couple lessons this week, we are excited to see the progress of the Marcillo Family. They have been investigating the church for a while, and out of no where they finally decided to go to church and pray to know the truth. God is softening the hearts of the people here. Her faith is inspiring as she is willing to change here life due to the promptings she experienced as she went to church for the first time as a family. There are still barriers that we need to overcome, but the gospel is working in their lives.
I am grateful for a diligent ward who is active in sharing the gospel. They are scared at first, but we are seeing the members overcoming their fears in order to help others feel the joy of the gospel!
Finally we went over to Puray Falls earlier today for a zone activity! I am loving it here in the Montalban Zone. The area is by far one of the prettiest in the mission, hopefully I will be here a long time. We took a tricycle on this beautiful mountain view. AHH I MISS DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS! Hmm.. maybe if everyone who reads this email donates a 100 dollars I could by myself a motorcycle here... *hint hint wink wink* There was one point that the tricycle almost tipped over because of the steep hills. It was a surprising mix of relaxing and exhilarating..
I hope you all have an amazing week!
