Caloocan! Filled with Miracles and Floods

The first week leading the area, it was difficult for me to know what to do, who to teach, and where the success is. We decided to have more faith-filled prayers and ask for referrals wherever we go: active members, less active members, and investigators. This week we had so many people that we needed to visit that our schedule was filled this weekend even before we had time to daily plan. It was a true miracle to see the work starting to open up in our wards.

Another miracle this week was teaching one of our investigators name Jazz. She is an active member referral who has tons and tons of questions but is very sincere in her desire to follow God's plan. Jazz decided that she wanted to be baptized but was afraid because her parents were not supportive as devoted Catholics. Her mother had to have surgery so she was not able to attend church for a while, and as she later told us was not sure if she was going to go back to our church. One day as she was greatly pondering about what she should do spiritually, she saw us missionaries talking to a person on the street and took it as a sign that this was the true path that she should take. She asked her member friend to give her mother a blessing and he did. Her mother had a speedy recovery from the surgery and in return changed her mind about the LDS church. She not only allowed Jazz to go to church and be baptized, but told her that she wanted Jazz to go to this church. There are so many little miracles in missionary work. I am excited to see her continue to progress as we prepare for her baptism.

Also I think God heard my prayers about the heat here in the Philippines. Now that it is only two of us in the apartment, I now have my own electric fan! Also the temperature is cooling down because it is officially RAINY SEASON! It has rained every day for a while, which means flooding in Malabon and Navotas haha! One day it started pouring out of no where and we had no choice but to wade through the black water. Honestly, the rain is super fun for me.

Caloocan Zone really is a great place! We have great leaders and the areas are progressing. Here is an excerpt from the Caloocan Song that has been circulating around the mission for years:

C-A-L-O-O-C-A-N Caloocan!
When you've been here 4 transfers and you've seen 3 trees,
when it rains for 2 minutes and it floods to your knees.
Caloocan!
